Jonathan graduated from the University of Dundee in the summer of 1989. He worked as a General Dental Practitioner with Clive Bell in Broomhill and enjoyed 4 years there. The people of Glasgow’s West End and beyond donated kindly towards his next career move which saw him take up residence in the Indian hill station of Dharamsala where, in Liaison with the Tibetan Government in exile, he implemented a plan to ensure the local Tibetan community had access to their own dental care. This involved 18 months of training for 4 dental therapists, each of whom hailed from 4 separate refugee camps in locations across the Indian Subcontinent where dental clinics were then set up.

On returning he started working for the Community Dental services, first in Orkney then based in Dumbarton Health Centre, with regular visits to the Islands of Mull and Islay. It was during this time he became interested in Orthodontics. He sat exams to become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and joined Glasgow Dental Hospital as a Senior House officer. In 2000 he started his 3 year specialist training in Orthodontics at Manchester University and on completion received a commendation on his treated cases from the British Orthodontic Society.

On returning to Scotland he began working at Glasgow Orthodontics with his brother, Simon. He worked there for 17 years and assisted in the training of 8 Orthodontic Therapists. In 2021 he joined Park Orthodontics and is enjoying embracing the opportunities that this move has afforded. Jonathan is on the Specialist List of the GDC, he is a member of British Orthodontic Society and served as the Chair of the Scottish Orthodontic Specialist Group for a number of years. More importantly, he loves being with his family; enjoys the outdoors, music, reading and writing.
