Working with you at Park Orthodontics

At Park Orthodontics, we are committed to providing a great service to our patients whatever treatment they choose. When you choose to have braces in Glasgow with us, we know that you are committing to a longer journey than with some other treatments. This means you need to feel comfortable and relaxed, so that you attend all the required appointments and can make choices that are right for you.

Why do people get braces?

Braces are used to realign the teeth. They can be used to pull teeth forward, push them back, rotate them or pull them down. They are often used to correct bite issues, which can otherwise leave you in some discomfort.

When you get braces in Glasgow at our practice, you will be able to smile with more confidence and enjoy healthier teeth. Straight teeth are less like to suffer from plaque and tarter build-up. Food is also less likely to get trapped and, when it does, your teeth will be easier to clean.

What are your options?

Teeth straightening can be achieved in a number of different ways. There are plenty of braces options that you can consider. Your dentist will examine your mouth and listen to what you want to achieve. They will then be able to make recommendations.

Some methods achieve results faster than others. Braces like Invisalign are removable while the Six Month Smiles method offers you a fixed brackets and wires solution. Many options consider the aesthetics of your teeth while you are having treatment.

Once you have all the information you need, including the benefits and challenges of each method, you will be able to make an informed choice.

When can you start?

Your dentist will tell you how many appointments you need. A member of our team will help you book them at Park Orthodontics, Glasgow.Braces treatment takes a minimum of a few months and anywhere up to two years, so you might not book all your appointments at once.

You may have already had impressions of your teeth taken during your consultation. If this is the case, you might need to wait for your braces to be made depending on which method you have chosen.

How to clean braces

The biggest risks during fixed orthodontic treatment (having braces stuck to your teeth) are the appearance of marks on your teeth and gum disease.

Here are 5 top cleaning  tips to prevent this happening.  You can watch the videos here

1. Spend two minutes cleaning with your normal toothbrush after each meal and before bed

2. Morning and night, use interdental brushes to get into the small spaces under the wires

3. Before going to bed rinse with an alcohol free fluoride mouthwash for 30 seconds

4. For expert cleaning, use ‘super floss’ to clean at the gum line between the teeth

5. If you don’t have a toothbrush when you’re out and about, rinse out with tap water after eating or drinking to remove debris.

All cleaning products are sold at reception and a £1 donation is given to yorkhill children’s foundation with each purchase.  Ask for a demonstration next time you’re in! Enjoy your clean braces 🙂
