We have recently discovered a fabric thumb guard that can help children to stop sucking their thumb. The Thumbsie® thumb guard can help act as a visual reminder for those children who want to stop thumb sucking but need some help at those difficult times. Suited to children aged 3 – 12 years (sometimes a little older too), these children’s fabric thumb guards are comfortable to wear and can be worn during the day and night.
A lot of the comforting a child associates with thumb sucking is to do with texture and the Thumbie® is a great solution to help any child break their habit. The Thumbie® comes in a great range of fabrics, so there should be something for everyone.
There are some great reviews for you to read such as “Thank you for a brilliant product. It worked perfectly and if it saved major dentistry work later on then all the better.” David (son Lewis).
We are delighted to welcome Simone to the team as our second orthodontic therapist. Simone has worked in orthodontic practice for 11 years so brings a wealth of experience and another friendly face!
If you are wondering what an orthodontic therapist is, here’s the British Orthodontic Society’s definition:
“An orthodontic therapist is a registered member of the dental team. They assist dentists/orthodontists in carrying out orthodontic treatment and provide some aspects of the treatment themselves. They can only work to the treatment prescribed from a dentist/orthodontist and within their competence (ability) and scope of practice as defined by the GDC and within the recommendations of BOS.”
In a nutshell, Simone will work under the supervision of Mr McLaughlin and Mr McGregor helping to deliver big patient smiles!
We hope everyone had a good Christmas break and the new year’s resolutions are being maintained!

We are delighted to have them on board and here they are with rest of the team looking very smart modelling the new look uniforms.
Mr McGregor has just returned from the World Orthodontic Conference in London, an event that travels the globe and is held every five years.
The conference hosted 7000 orthodontists from most of the world’s countries. There were daily meetings and lectures bringing everyone up to date on the recent developments in our profession.
One of the best lectures was about patient satisfaction; something we are always looking to improve on, so look out for a new questionnaire around the practice soon!
