“As one of the longest-standing staff members, Claire’s wealth of clinical experience and knowledge is a huge asset to the clinic. She takes the role as part of the senior clinical team seriously, setting a great example to her juniors. I know I’ll be told off for making her sound old now!” ~ Dr Andrew Mcgregor, Owner Park Orthodontics.
Claire is a long-standing team member at Park Orthodontics, having joined us in October 2013.
Her dental career began in 1997 when she fell into a dental nursing job soon after leaving school. After a couple of years of gaining dental experience, she took on a dental nursing role at NHS Lanarkshire.
Claire gained her dental nursing qualification and, having found a passion for orthodontics while working alongside orthodontic and oral surgery consultants at NHS Lanarkshire, went on to earn her orthodontic nursing qualification.
This qualification enables registered dental nurses to extend their skills and knowledge beyond general dental nursing training. It is particularly advantageous to those working in a specialist orthodontic environment.
Enthusiastic about her work and dedicated to her dental career, Claire remained in this role within NHS Lanarkshire hospitals for twelve years.
She was fortunate to be allowed to train as an orthodontic therapist while there. The idea of being in a more hands-on role with orthodontic treatment for patients appealed greatly to Claire, and she was delighted to accept the offer to complete her orthodontic therapy training.
Claire gained her orthodontic therapist qualification in 2009 from the Edinburgh Dental Institute and said the standard of training she received was second-to-none. She remains good friends with fellow therapists who conducted their training alongside her.
Claire loves being part of the team at Park Orthodontics and plans to stay here until she retires!
She is proud to be part of such an excellent and friendly team.
Claire is happy that the Park Orthodontics team endeavour to continually learn about fundamental topics in dentistry and keep up to date with contemporary orthodontic concepts, taking part in courses at the practice as well as attending various other courses, such as those at the annual Scottish Orthodontic conference, which is organised by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Claire is also a proud member of the British Orthodontic Society.
When not working, Claire enjoys living a whole life with her two children, her husband and other family.
