“Jenna has been a fantastic senior nurse, taking all new tasks and changes in her stride. Now in the orthodontic therapy training program, she can reach her full potential on the other side of the chair. A fully deserved reward for years of hard work and loyalty. She will continue in her most important role as social convener, thankfully.” ~ Dr Andrew Mcgregor, Owner Park Orthodontics.
Jenna started working as a trainee dental nurse at Battlefield Dental Centre in March 2009, where she assisted in general dentistry when required. Still, her primary role was working alongside the specialist orthodontist.
Whilst training, Jenna attended Langside College working towards gaining the NEBDN National Certificate for Dental Nurses, which she successfully achieved in 2011.
Jenna has always had a passion for learning and likes to challenge herself! After qualifying as a dental nurse in 2011, she immediately studied the complex topic of Dental Radiography and gained her qualification in 2012.
In 2014, Jenna was given a chance to take on a dental practice management role and decided to go for it!
Although Jenna enjoyed the change in her role and valued all that it taught her, she realised that a more hands-on clinical role was something she missed.
Keen to return to a nursing role that utilised her dental nursing skills and experience, Jenna knew that when the chance to join the fantastic team at Park Orthodontics arose in 2015, it was an opportunity not to be missed!
Patient care is of the utmost importance to Jenna and her colleagues, which is why she enjoys working at Park Orthodontics.
Jenna loves supporting patients throughout their treatment and likes the relationship she can build with patients.
Dentistry is a topic that is constantly evolving, and a forward-thinking practice like Park Orthodontics embraces this, which Jenna is pleased to say brings new opportunities for the whole team and improves the patient care they can provide.
Jenna has further expanded her dental knowledge and skillset since joining Park Orthodontics and has completed training in impression-taking and dental photography.
Jenna not only provides chairside assistance to our clinicians but, thanks to her dedication to learning and hard work, can also take dental x-rays, impressions and photographs prescribed by our Orthodontists.
Her wealth of dental knowledge and friendly demeanour means that explaining procedures and providing care instructions to patients is something that she not only enjoys but is another part of her role and is something that she is particularly good at!
Jenna finds orthodontics a fascinating area of dentistry and knows that it makes a real difference to patients. In 2022, Jenna gained the SCQF level 8 Professional Development Award in Orthodontic Dental Nursing after further study.
Never one to stay still in her career for too long, Jenna hopes to embark on the next steps in her dental journey and become a trainee Orthodontic Therapist at the Edinburgh Dental Institute to work toward gaining a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
In the rare moments when Jenna isn’t working or studying, she enjoys walking and getting her steps in both before and after work.
At weekends, she spends time with her friends and family, which usually involves enjoying their company over good food (i.e., spicy food) and a glass of wine.
