“As a new addition to the team, it feels like Caitlin has been with us for years. She has slotted in professionally and socially so well and I’m sure will continue to grow and develop with us for years to come.” ~ Dr Andrew Mcgregor, Owner Park Orthodontics.
Caitlin first joined a dental team as a school leaver, beginning her career in a general dental practice in Dundee.
She started her dental nurse training in 2015 and has studied various dental topics ever since!
Caitlin completed her SCQF Level 7 SVQ and PDA in Dental Nursing. She completed her Higher National Certificate in Dental Nursing, attaining an A grade whilst working in her first dental nursing position.
While here, Caitlin gained valuable experience assisting the dentist with a wide range of both NHS and private procedures and carrying out general reception duties.
Caitlin eventually moved to an orthodontic practice to expand her dental knowledge further.
She worked alongside a fantastic team of orthodontists and orthodontic therapists, assisting in various NHS and private treatments.
Caitlin discovered her passion for orthodontics and hasn’t returned to general dentistry since!
Working in an orthodontic practice gave Caitlin opportunities to further her dental skills and knowledge, which she jumped at the chance to take.
Caitlin completed training in impression-taking and digital scanning.
She was also fortunate enough to gain experience in an on-site dental laboratory, where she learned how to cast up impressions and make vacuum-formed retainers for patients.
Unsurprisingly, Caitlin used the COVID-19 lockdown to her advantage by undertaking Treatment Coordinator training with The Invisible Orthodontist, which elevated her confidence in discussing treatment options and costs with patients.
In June 2021, she also completed the Dental Radiography course with BDA, attaining an A in the final exam.
Caitlin’s role in this orthodontic team utilised the knowledge and skills she worked hard to gain, and she was promoted to Dental Monitoring Coordinator.
In 2022, Caitlin relocated to Glasgow, where she hoped to join a supportive and successful orthodontic practice.
Thankfully, a position within the Park Orthodontics team became available at just the right time!
Caitlin’s wealth of knowledge, dedication to her work and friendly, approachable manner resulted in her becoming the Lead Nurse at Park Orthodontics.
Caitlin is a very driven individual with a passion for working in orthodontics, and she is keen to continue to progress in her career in the future.
She plans to do this by undertaking a PDA in Orthodontic Dental Nursing to pursue a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy eventually, should she have the opportunity to do so.
Caitlin’s hobbies include travelling to new places and experiencing different cultures. She enjoys cooking, baking for family and friends, and trying new recipes.
